12 most ravishing looks from Bling Empire: New York Season 1: from Tina Leungs tweed Chanel coat

From the same producers who brought us Keeping Up with the Kardashians and The Simple Life with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, Bling Empire: New York has all the drama youd expect from such a show. And, of course, the fashion is equally on point well, most of the time.

Enter Bling Empire, Netflix’s answer to reality TV fans’ prayers. The show came out in 2021, following the uber-rich, uber-materialistic lives of the ever-so-fabulous Asian socialites of LA. The franchise quickly followed up with two more seasons and expanded its reach with Dubai Bling, and now Bling Empire: New York.

From the same producers who brought us Keeping Up with the Kardashians and The Simple Life with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, Bling Empire: New York has all the drama you’d expect from such a show. And, of course, the fashion is equally on point … well, most of the time.

Here are the 10 best style moments from the ladies of Bling Empire: New York season one.

1. Deborah Hung’s penchant for pink …

Hongkongers may already be familiar with Deborah Hung – and if not the woman herself, then at least the custom pink “Deborah” Rolls-Royce she cruises around town in.

Married to billionaire real estate tycoon Stephen Hung (as mentioned in the series, the couple have a reported US$2 billion net worth), the Mexican model and lawyer has a true penchant for fashion and the most luxurious wardrobe you can imagine. In episode one, Stephen takes his wife shopping for an outfit to wear for her surrealism-themed party. She wears Dolce & Gabbana’s cady pink bustier dress.

2. … and Dolce

It’s not just the colour pink Hung is obsessed with.

During her fitting, the 40-year-old took home another Dolce & Gabbana, this time the brand’s feathery, candy-pink dress, which she later wears for her event.

3. Nam Laks’ suit and Prada tie …

In episode three, she wears a Prada logo tie beneath her black blazer and accessorises the look with an intricate neck-and-shoulder jewellery piece.

4. … And channelling Blair Waldorf with Self Portrait

The so-called “Blair Waldorf of Thailand” certainly dresses like her Gossip Girl counterpart, as seen on multiple occasions in the series.

In episode two, the 28-year-old dines at South Street Seaport’s Industry Kitchen restaurant with pal Richard Chang and his girlfriend Vika Abbyaeva, donning what we’d consider classic Waldorf attire. Her Self Portrait tweed dress is reminiscent of the fictional Upper Eastside character’s preppy and girlie style.

5. Tina Leung’s Chanel ensemble …

Hong Kong-born fashion queen Tina Leung wins the style game overall in this show, in our opinion. She does it for a living, after all. In one outfit, she goes all-pink with her vintage Chanel coat paired with a quilted neon check leather bag from the luxury fashion house.

6. … And that flowery coat …

Leung’s legendary flower-embroidered coat from Viktor & Rolf Couture’s spring 2022 collection gave viewers an immediate sense of her flair for the dramatic.

The 40-year-old influencer wore the look as she flitted from venue to venue to attend shows during Paris Fashion Week.

7. … With a sprinkle of Valentino

The Slaysian also rocked a Valentino mermaid-printed silk blouse during the first episode.

8. Dorothy Wang in Oscar de la Renta …

Dorothy Wang channelled her inner goddess when she put on this show-stopping floral-sequinned gown from Oscar de la Renta in the show. The dress is a spin on Oscar de la Renta’s previous season’s bestselling florals (famously worn by Taylor Swift at the Grammys) and combines 3D sparkle with skin-baring tulle. It was designed by Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, the former of whom is also part of the “Slaysians” gang.

9. … And her “Lance Armstrong” Mugler neon panel top

Ever the jokester, 35-year-old Wang refers to herself in the neon-striped outfit as “Lance Armstrong ready for a bicycle”. The pricey Mugler number features curved vertical panels in its design to give a flattering silhouette.

10. Vika Abbyaeva’s purple

Throughout the show, it’s clear that Vika Abbyaeva has a more humble sense of style and doesn’t flash designers left, right and centre. In one of her bolder, more colourful looks, the 27-year-old model – who is of Kalmyk–Russian descent – wears this purple Odessa blazer mini dress from Bronx and Banco.

11. Lynn Ban’s bedazzled Gucci sunglasses …

A long-time fixture of New York’s fashion scene, Lynn Ban isn’t afraid to bring a healthy dose of colour and charisma to her outfits.

During her roller-skating day out with husband Jett Kain and pal Blake Abbie on the show, the 50-year-old couture jewellery designer kept all eyes on her in her fluffy, sparkling head-to-toe purple ensemble. She finished the fearless look with crystal-studded retro Gucci sunglasses.

12. … And vintage Chanel

The oldest female cast member on the show is also a Chanel fanatic. During a brunch at New York cake boutique Lady M, she wore vintage Chanel sunglasses and a chunky Chanel necklace, adding shearling earmuffs embroidered with the brand’s signature Cs to complete the look.
